Who We Are
Many Believers struggle with intrusive and distressing thoughts that can impact their mental well-being. Unending inner dialogue can significantly affect one's overall quality of life and daily functioning. If you're looking for a way to break free from these intrusive thought patterns, there is hope. Klarity Counseling offers Faith-based Counseling Services in a safe and culturally responsive environment where we can work together to identify the sources of these thoughts and help you transform your pain into personal empowerment.
Hi! I'm Ida Terry.
There is hope if you're looking for a way to break free from intrusive thoughts and unhelpful behavioral patterns. I work collaboratively with Believers and other clients struggling with seemingly unending thought disorders contributing to the debilitating quality of life.
My specialties are depression, anxiety, grief and loss, addiction, and relationship upsets in adults, families, and couples. I deploy evidenced-based theoretical approaches and biblical principles that target unhelpful thought patterns, combined with a menu of evidenced-based tools that reinforce learning, such as bibliocounseling, Socratic worksheets, meditation, and Christ-centered meditation to enhance the client's ability to analyze the usefulness of their current thought patterns.
Faith in God and respect for others' agency and their inherent right to choose their path are used to design sessions to meet the client's unique needs for safety and acceptance as identified by the client. My experience as a military wife, travel enthusiast, and twenty-plus years providing counseling to international, diverse socioeconomic, and multicultural clients have enhanced and sharpened my understanding of the dynamic role of culture and faith in the change process.
I believe in the power of collaboration and working together to address challenges and achieve personal growth. I look forward to working collaboratively with you on your journey toward healing and well-being.
Culture is dynamic and complex.
What We Do
Klarity Counseling operationalized the US Department of Health & Human Services view of culture: "culture as an integrated pattern of thoughts, communications, actions, customs, beliefs, values, and institutions associated, wholly or partially, with racial, ethnic, or linguistic groups as well as religious, spiritual, biological, geographical, or sociological characteristics." Culture is dynamic in nature, and individuals may identify with multiple cultures over their lifetimes. Culture is a strength to be leveraged. It also fosters a safe internal environment to rediscover cultural power and find clarity.
What is Culturally Responsive Practice?
Culturally Responsive Practice intentionally deploys a set of skills and practices that leverages a person's culture and worldview. This approach is a way to facilitate restoration, healing, and alignment with the total person in a nonjudgmental way which allows challenging aspects of a person’s life to be explored.
What are the Benefits?
The benefits of a culturally responsive approach promote:
Positive Identity
Examination of Cultural Practices that are no longer helpful
A Sense of Belonging and Acceptance
